Travel, Meals, and Lodging:

  • Meals and lodging packages are not available for this course. 

  • 5 minutes drive from the venue there are many grocery stores and food options.


Getting there and Parking:

  • The course will be in the Student Recreation Facility (SRF) on the east side of campus. The best lot for parking is HLPS in dark blue, right off Halsted & Polk Streets. However, any of the dark blue and yellow lots are an option. There is also street parking along Halsted (south of Roosevelt), Taylor, Van Buren, and throughout Greektown. You can find prices for the UIC lots here.  

  • Using the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA), the Blue Line "L" stop is UIC / Halsted, and then the buses run along Halsted, Harrison, and Taylor streets as well. 

  • While on UIC Campus, you may require access to WiFi. If so, please use this link. You are welcome to bring your own food for yourself; UIC has many options on campus and nearby.

  • When you arrive in the facility, inform the membership desk who you are and that you are here for the NOLS Course. They will then allow you entrance and direct you to the classroom. Our classroom will be in room 134 (MAC Suite).

Course ApprovalThis course is recognized by the American Camp Association to meet specific ACA standards requiring certifications. The course meets the Boy Scouts of America Wilderness First Aid training requirements. Additionally, the Wilderness First Aid course (WILDMI-554), and when included the CPR/AED course (WILDMI-134), are approved by the United States Coast Guard to meet the first aid and CPR training requirements of 46 CFR 11.201(i)(1)(ii) and 46 CFR 11.201(i)(2)(iiI) for a merchant mariner credential.


This WFA Class will be taught from 8:00am to 5:00pm daily with an hour for lunch around 1pm.


Optional add on CPR provided by Midwest Outdoor Skills Training

On select NOLS WFA courses, we offer the option to add an AHA Heartsaver CPR AED Certification (Adult, Child, and Infant), valid for 2 years. If available, this session will take place after class on Day 1, from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM, and the cost is $70.
